Barbara Bock
vocals
Barbara Bock is a dynamic vocalist who is
constantly working on new material. She sings with a fresh style that
holds your attention and doesn’t beckon for comparisons. Her diverse
background includes performances in clubs, on the stage, television and
in the recording studio. Born in upstate New York, Barbara began singing
as a young child in church choirs and in school performances. She then
went on to study voice at University of Buffalo. For the past ten years,
she has been singing in such venues as The Goodspeed Opera House,
Resorts International, Bally’s and Caesar’s. Barbara’s vocal’s can be
heard on CD’s such as Jordan Rudess’ Listen, Rob Silvan’s Top
Banana featuring Randy Brecker, and Bock & Blu’s I Hide My Face
Like This... which also features some of her songs. She can also be
heard on the nationally televised commercial for Great White Paper,
which premiered during the 1998 World Series.

Gary Blu

Gary grew up in New Rochelle, NY playing
at local clubs and giving private lessons from the time he was 16. After
graduating from SUNY Binghamton with a degree in music composition, he
attended graduate courses at The New School in commercial arranging and
audio engineering. He worked alongside Donald Fagen as assistant
arranger and music copyist with The New York Rock & Soul Revue,
featuring Donald Fagen, Walter Becker, Michael McDonald, Boz Scaggs,
Phoebe Snow, and Chuck Jackson. Since then, he has done the same for all
of the Steely Dan tours, as well as music copyist for Steely Dan's Grammy winning Two Against Nature, Donald Fagen's solo record Kamakiriad
and Walter Becker's 11 Tracks of Whack. Some of his horn arrangements
can be heard on Steely Dan's live album Alive In America. Gary was
involved in Steely Dan's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and
can be seen on the PBS special Two Against Nature, Steely Dan's Plush TV
Jazz-Rock Party. Gary also had the pleasure to work briefly alongside
the late Gerry Mulligan re-arranging music for Mulligan's tentet. Gary's
diverse experience also includes live performances and recordings with
many local artists. His most recent endeavor includes the formation of
Hybrid Records and the release of Bock & Blu's I Hide My Face Like
This... which showcases Gary's composing, arranging, and performance.
Timmy Maia
vocals

Timmy grew up in Waterbury, CT singing
since he was a toddler. As a teenager he began honing his skills as a
member of a Gospel Quartet and in various local clubs. He has
subsequently been a staff singer for Sony Records, has had an original
composition on "90210" as well as a music video on BET T.V. Timmy's
vast studio experience has found him in recording studios all over the
country. He is currently completing his second CD of original music.
Although he loves the studio process, Timmy thrives on live performance
and the energy of a live audience. Besides local venues, he has opened
for the likes of Freddie Jackson, Phyllis Hyman and Brian McKnight, just
to name a few. Timmy and (Bock & Blu keyboardist) Jay Rowe have been
working together on various projects since 1998. Timmy became a full
time member of Bock & Blu in 2002.
Paul Adamy
bass *
Besides laying
down a fat groove with the Bock & Blu Band, Paul has also found time to
play on TV themes, Broadway shows ("Mamma Mia", "Seussical", "Saturday
Night Fever", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Footloose", "Smokey Joe's
Cafe", "Kat & The Kings"), radio jingles and record dozens of CDs. Paul
was the bassist for the "Cosby Show" for four years and went on to play
bass on the spin-offs "A Different World" and "Here & Now", both on NBC.
His bass can also be heard on "Extra", "People's Court", "Jenny Jones
Show", "ABC's Wide World of Sports", "CBS This Morning", "Street
Stories" with Ed Bradley, "Good Morning America", "The Today Show" and
"The Jane Whitney Show". Paul has also played with artists as diverse as
Carly Simon, Art Garfunkel, Little Anthony & The Imperials, Jennifer
Love-Hewitt, The Paul Winter Consort, Gladys Knight, Freddie Jackson,
Dave Weckl, Judy Collins, Angela Bofill, Ben E. King and Alvin Ailey. He
has appeared at the Lilith Fair & Woodstock (1998) Festivals. His bass
can also be heard on many CD's on the Palmetto label with Loose Shoes,
Matt Balitsaris, Mindy Jostyn, C'est What?!, Lili Anel, Cornelius Bumpus,
Arthur Lipner and more.

Andy Abel
guitar & vocals *
Andy grew up in Norwalk, CT playing guitar
since he was 9 years old. He was fortunate to have the opportunity to
study with the late guitar guru Linc Chamberland for 8 yrs. In 1995,
Andy won the Connecticut Guitar Contest, sponsored by Wood Doctor
Products and 95.9 FOX radio. Besides teaching guitar himself for over
twenty yrs, Andy has performed with Dave Valentin, Chieli Minucci, Chuck
Loeb as well as with world renowned songwriter Chip Taylor (Wild
Thing, Angel Of The Morning) with Late Night drummer Anton
Fig and Bruce Hornsby’s David Mansfield. He has also opened for Jan
Hammer, Leslie West, & Michael Bolton as well as playing on various
radio and TV spots working with, Danny Gottlieb, Mark Egan and
Andy Newmark. Andy can be heard on recording’s by the band Aftertouch
as well as Bock & Blu’s, I Hide My Face Like This…Although
working both in the studio and live with Bock & Blu since 1992, it
wasn’t until 2000 that Andy became a full time member.
Jay Rowe

Jay grew up in
Milford, CT playing piano since he was 10 years old and playing in bands
since he was 12. Since graduating with a Jazz Studies Performance degree
from the New England Conservatory of Music, Jay has performed with, as
well as composed music for, jazz artists Nelson Rangell, Angela Bofil,
Special EFX, and Marion Meadows, just to name a few. Jay also has three
CDs out under his own name and has performed with his own group sharing
bills with the likes of David Benoit, The Rippingtons, Najee, Candy
Dulfer and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Although Jay has worked with
members of Bock & Blu for the better part of 15 years, Jay finally
became a full time member in 2000.
Brian Doherty
drums *
Brian grew up in Randolph, New Jersey
playing drums since he was 7 years old. He received both a Bachelors and
a Masters degree from Manhattan School of Music. Since then he has
performed with the B-52s, R.E.M., Hootie & The Blowfish, Blues Traveler,
Elvis Costello, They Might Be Giants, M2M (touring with Jewel), as well
as many other international acts. In addition to extensive jingle work,
movie soundtrack, and orchestral experience, he also has been on the
faculty of The Drummer's Collective in NYC and has taught at many drum
clinics throughout the US. Brian first worked with Bock & Blu in 1996
and became a member of the group in 2002.
Tony
Kadleck

Tony has one of Bock & Blu’s most diverse credentials. He
graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 1989, and has since toured
with Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Blood Sweat & Tears, Donna Summer,
Buddy Rich, and Michel Camilo just to name a few. He has also performed
with Aretha Franklin, Tower Of Power, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald,
Patti Austin, and Jeffrey Osborne. Tony’s recording credentials include
Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Carly Simon, Gladys Knight, and Dizzy
Gillespie. He's "THE" guy that everyone wants in NYC. You just can't do
better than that. Tony has been a part of Bock & Blu since 1987.
Rick Trager
trombone *
Rick has lived in the tri-state area all
his life and received a Bachelor of Music from the University of
Bridgeport. He toured internationally with Buddy Rich, playing lead
trombone for the year preceding Buddy’s death and can be heard on
Buddy’s memorial CDs & videos, Burning for
Buddy. Rick has also performed with The Temptations, The Four Tops,
Blood Sweat & Tears, Mel Torme, Natalie Cole, Dionne Warwick, and Sammy
Davis Jr. He has played on Broadway & toured the United States and Europe with various
Broadway musicals including Me & My Girl, Jesus Christ Superstar, and
the Ziegfield Follies. Rick has been a member of Bock & Blu since 1987.
Maydie Myles
vocals
Born and raised in
Norfolk, Virginia, Maydie Myles began playing piano and singing gospel
in the church her father pastored. Maydie’s desire to sing jazz and
rhythm and blues led to engagements at night clubs around Norfolk,
Hampton and Virginia Beach. After signing with Decca Records she
received Record World ‘s Most Promising Female Vocalist award.
Maydie was rated on Billboard’s R&B Chart and on American Bandstand.
She also recorded for Clive Davis. Maydie has performed and/or
recorded with Jimmy McGriff, The Holmes Brothers, Blues Brothers
Band, and Cornelius Bumpus. Maydie continues to sing at clubs and
functions throughout the Tri-State area. She is a jingle singer for
JSM Music and Crushing — two of the largest jingle houses in New
York. This association produced finals for such products as Pepsi,
Dr. Pepper, EasySpirit, Fisher Price, Embassy Suites, Sirius
Satellite Radio, J.C. Penny, Smirnoff Ice, Popeye’s Chicken and
Ford.
Emedin Rivera
percussion
Emedin was raised in Puerto Rico learning
percussion from his father and uncle. It didn't take long for him to
become one of the islands most sought after percussionists. He has
performed live with Harry Belafonte, Gregory Hines, Paquito De Rivera,
Vicki Sue Robinson, Angela Bofill, Gloria Gaynor, Ben E. King, Menudo,
Dave Samuels and Dave Valentin just to name a few. He has recorded with
Larry Coryell, Bob James, Chuck Mangione, Nelson Rangell and many
others. He has also written articles for both Modern Drummer and Modern
Percussionist magazines, appeared on the CBS Morning Show, Showtime at
the Apollo, and the Joan Rivers Show, and played on a couple of movie
soundtracks. Gary Blu first worked with Emedin in 1999 and was blown
away by his groove and sensitivity. Emedin became a member of Bock & Blu
in 2002.
